Many years ago I was travelling between my home in central Scotland and the north of England. It was about six in the morning and the sun was just starting to rise. I was passing a beautiful large reservoir surrounded by a backdrop of hills. The water was literally a sheet of glass. The sun rise an amazing combination of purple and orange hues. The hills were perfectly reflected in the water. It was in fact the perfect calendar image. I stopped and found a good location and shot off a roll of shots. Shooting on slides I knew I had the quality needed for a calendar manufacturer - I had pound signs in my eyes. When I got home I started to unload the film from my camera only to find the film hadn't caught properly on the sprockets. I never had a single shot!
We have recently had a big Offers store opened up near us. They buy discontinued and bankruptcy stock (I think) and sell it at knock down prices. I went along and bought loads of stuff to sell on ebay. When I got home I searched ebay and found absolutely everything I had was already on ebay for less than I had paid! Anybody want to buy a batch of USB battery chargers?
The photo agency I use were looking for images from Ireland, mostly Dublin for a book publisher. I booked cheap flights with Ryanair and went to Dublin for a long weekend. I did have a great time there but with the pound to euro exchange rate it cost me a fortune. I came back and uploaded about thirty images - I sold one! I earned fifteen quid for my troubles!
More to come...
